SMB looking for an experienced bassist! - August 22, 2009

Hi there... we need a bassist who can rock out and stay in the band. We've been playing "musical bassists" for a while, and it just gets old. If you're ready to commit, we're ready to split you in. THE RIGHT BASSIST WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO JOIN THE BAND AND RECORD ON OUR NEW ALBUM CURRENTLY IN PROGRESS. Hate to set an age limit, but we're thinking 22-35ish.

The Scott Morris Band is a Lakeland-based rock band that plays originals and covers in venues such as The Social (Orlando), The Plaza Theatre (Orlando), The Polk Theatre (Lakeland), and more. We have played many private/corporate parties, fundraisers, bars, and the like to make money. Gigs at the Lakeland Center are sure to happen in the near future as well. We know how to have fun, but know when to be serious too. We need a serious bassist who can stick. Here's a definition of "serious":

SERIOUS (Excerpt from The Scott Morris Band Dictionary):
* You show up to rehearsal (in Lakeland) every time - Rehearsals are usually once a week, more with an upcoming gig
* You don't move to Gainesville without telling anybody in the band... (this is key)
* You understand that all $$$ gets split evenly, which means everyone works - everyone helps with set-up & break-down, as well as booking the gigs and marketing
* You don't have to be taught - you see the music, you feel the music, you practice the music, you play the music right every time
* You love telling your friends to come to the gigs
* You have a good sense of humor
* You love Mike's hair and don't mess with him about his pink shirts
* Bassists who have GOOD vocals and understand vocal harmonization will gain preference, but this is not required

The music on our website is not fully representative of our style. It is from a time where I was wearing my "singer-songwriter" hat. We are now a rock band (Black Crowes, Gin Blossoms, Goo Goo Dolls, Collecive Soul, Tonic, etc.) IF YOU'RE SELECTED BY THE BAND (through audition/interview process), please remember that YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO RECORD ON OUR NEW ALBUM CURRENTLY IN PROGRESS. Also, if you want to see and know a bit about the devistatingly handsome musicians you'll be working with, go to http://www.scottmorrismusic.com/bio.html.

Email Scott at scott@scottmorrismusic.com for more info! We hope you're the perfect fit! Pass this along if you know someone! Thanks!
